Belts on, phones off, make it a habit!

For the past week, we have been learning about road safety to keep ourselves safe. We got given a task to do in class, and that was to make a google drawing about road safety making sure that the word "Belts on, phones off, make it a habit" is in it. Spread the word, to help keep our community safe!

Dawn Reids

The Dawn Raid
The dawn raid first started in 1970 and ended in the early 1980s, where the palangi people, and white cops came and raided the Polynesians homes to deport them back to the islands. The people that were involved in this tragic moment, were the white people, cops, the Pacific islanders, Maoris and strangers. The white people informed the Polynesian people to come and work for them, so they took that opportunity to work, to send money for their family to provide for them. But the thing was, they were only allowed to stay in New Zealand for 3 months. So they decided to overstay their visit, and the white people didn't like it so they drove over to where they were staying and tried sending them back to the islands, which was horrific. The palangis were racist towards us, because they thought they were like the kings & queens of all of us, they were racist towards our skin color and our appearance which made them treat us differently. The white people today, would probably feel ashamed of what their people did to us. Embarrassed, because they don't get given the treatment they want, because of what happened in the past. Depressed, because they probably think that whenever we see someone like them, we think of them differently.

Anzac

Dear Mum and Dad,

First day on our journey, and theirs already explosions. People jumping off the boats and drowning due to all the heavy stuff their carrying.  Honestly, it's like a never ending nightmare. It haunts all of us.

Some people are too young to be here, there's endless tears running down from their eyes. Frustration and confusion filled in everyone's head, their eyes are searching up and down, side to side, wondering where the bullets are coming from. But here I am,  just sitting in the trenches surrounded by millions of dead bodies, knowing that we have to leave their bodies to rot in the dirt.

Someone was right next to me, talking about his little girl that he had to leave at home. He said he promised her that he was gonna come back, but turns out he had to let that promise go. Right in front of my very eyes, I watched him die and watched his blood scatter everywhere and then it reached my hands, they were shaking with fright and gulitness. And I sat right next to him, until he took his last breath and all I could hear him say was “I just wanted to go back home”.

All I could think about was that man, I didn’t even know his name. Until I heard heaps of men yelling at  me telling me to hurry up, and go with them to safety. My mind was miserable, I was speechless and as still as a statue. I couldn’t move my body nor my mouth.  The guilt that everyone had was unspeakable, we had no choice but to leave behind our teams dead bodies.

Anzac day research

For the past 2 weeks we have been learning about Anzac, and we've been doing some more research about it. Above this writing, this is what I found out about Anzac, and their info about it.

Filling peoples buckets!

Today in class, we were learning about filling up peoples buckets and got told a story about it. Everyone has their own buckets, including me and it represents all the good thoughts, good memories and it holds all of it together! Whenever your having a good time, and someone makes you laugh, your bucket is slowly getting filled up with love, respect, and most importantly, Respect! Its kind of similar to your emotions. What I learnt from this is that, its important to fill up other peoples buckets, because it'll fill up yours too! Instead of dipping into them, because whenever we dip into their bucket, we're taking all of their good thoughts and good feelings, and throwing them away like trash. How many buckets can you fill up ?

The never ending tunnel.

Slowly and gently, my eyes started to peek open, my vision was blurry and all I could see was bright green and hazel brown. My vision started getting clearer and as it went clearer, I started to see the sunlight beaming through the walls and shining into my eyes. At a slow pace I started to get up and gazed up upon a grassy long tunnel. I started to walk, while my hands were in between the roots and grass throughout the whole way. I thought I reached the end, but it kept going and going, and my assumptions thought I was stuck here forever.

Circle of Flames!

I strolled around the hallway, and into the kitchen. And then there it was, that nice strawberry smell from a little candle. The little flames were going up in the air, making the house smell like strawberries. I gripped onto the candle and stared at it for a while, then left it peacefully on the table, my hand shook the table as I was leaving, and the candle started wriggling around like a bowl, but I walked out. That little candle, fell on its side, making the fire go onto the table and slowly burning it. It went onto the edge of the table, and started going around like a circle, causing the house to get all smokey and blazing hot. The fire made its way down to the rusty wooden floor, then slowly making its way up to the chairs and against the white pale walls. I came back in, and I couldn’t see anything, I coughed and coughed, trying to see where the fire was, but all I could see was black and grey smoke and more smoke. I opened the door leading to the kitchen, and saw flames up in the air. Burning everything in its way, I could’ve made a different choice, and should’ve left the candle where it was placed before, and maybe, the house wouldn’t be in a state like this..
